SODELPA Leader Sitiveni Rabuka stresses that a SODELPA government will not allow buildings to be built with no purpose.
While responding to Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama’s comments that the SODELPA Leader saying that buildings in Fiji should be no taller than palm trees, is a joke, Rabuka says his stand is clear on the issue.
Rabuka says the palm tree level buildings should be maintained for tourism and he also believes that new buildings coming up is not an indication of economic boom in Fiji.
Rabuka had earlier said in an interview that the time is not right at the moment to go above a 12 storey building.
Bainimarama has said that if it was up to the opposition, the economic boom that is being witnessed in Suva wouldn’t even be possible.
He highlighted that FHL is investing $65 million in the 17 storey building at Gordon Street.
FHL says once completed, the FHL Tower will be an iconic addition to the city of Suva providing premium tenancy experience to the greater business community. Two to three diplomatic missions and other international agencies are expected to occupy the new office space.
FHL Group Chairman, Adrian Sofield says that the project will provide employment for 200 people.
