A SODELPA government will ensure that faith based organisations have a say in who should be the head of their schools.
SODELPA MP Mikaele Leawere says they will give faith based organisations the right to select a school head that is from their religious denomination.
He says they will include this in SODELPA’s manifesto as it will be the platform where they will kick start their Education reforms if they come into power in 2018.
Leawere says SODELPA will also ensure that trade unions are part of the decision making process in the Ministry of Education.
He says as vital stakeholders of Fiji’s education sector, faith based organisations as well as trade unions will have the space and value they rightfully deserve under a SODELPA government.
In an earlier statement, Acting Prime Minister Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum had said that it is not constitutionally possible for all principals and head teachers in schools run by the religious organisations to be members of that religious organisation.
