The first state witness in the case of Mosese Bulitavu and Jagath Karunaratne told the Suva Magistrates Court today that they were told to write against Voreqe Bainimarama and Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum in 2011.

Bulitavu and Karunaratne are charged with writing seditious comments in public places in 2011.

Usaia Koroi is the state’s first of the 27 witnesses and he has been given immunity from seditious charges by the DPP.

Koroi revealed that he was working for Worker Films in Raiwaqa in 2011 and in a meeting they were told that they had to do some writings.

He says this meeting was attended by Mosese Bulitavu, his wife, Worker Films Operation Manager, Eperama and the company’s director, Dan Ligairi.

Koroi also told Chief Magistrate, Usaia Ratuvili that they wrote in some public places in the Suva-Nausori corridor.

The hearing is expected to go for three weeks.

Michael Delaney is the state lawyer while Aman Ravindra Singh is representing Karunaratne while Bulitavu’s lawyer is Barbara Malimali.
