“We want our people to be skilled so that they can be on par with those in overseas”.
Those were the words of the Chairman of the World Technical Vocational Education and Training, Dr Isimeli Tagicakiverata at the launching of the World TVET conference today at Grand Pacific Hotel.
Tagicakiverata says the conference will allow them and the other 37 countries to exchange ideas, learn from each other but more importantly to expose the local institutions, educators, trainers, stakeholders to the overseas programmes.
He says they want to bring successful stories and ideas from overseas and see if they can adapt that into their situations.
Tagicakiverata adds that one day they hope to send local technicians and people working in other fields to work in overseas and vise-versa.
The conference will end on Thursday.
