The Leader of the Opposition Ro Teimumu Kepa says we must pray earnestly and deeply for the souls of those who died, and also support through prayer their grieving relatives and friends.
Although Ro Teimumu did not attend the national service today, she said that the grief of the relative and friend is our grief.
But she says that we must not forget the people whose lives were torn apart by Cyclone Winston.
Ro Teimumu says their homes were blown down, they lost most of their possessions and many of them are still living in leaky tents while they wait for assistance.
She says children too are victims, many of them still studying under canvas.
Ro Teimumu says at the moment they are among our dispossessed, a constant reminder of what Winston did to our nation.
She says we must come together not only in prayer, but also through a joint determination to speed up the relief
efforts.
