“We should not only think of October as the month that we stand by the side of cancer patients but continue in our efforts all year”
This is according to the Minister of Women, Children and Poverty Alleviation, Rosy Sofia Akbar during the Digicel Pinktober Morning Tea today.
Akbar said we must make an effort and pay tribute to the patients that are living with this disease.
She said in the movement towards dedication for raising awareness on breast cancer, a feeling of communal support was seen throughout and this shows the undeniably excellent development that Fiji has for the great benefit of women with breast cancer.
Meanwhile, Digicel Regional Chief Executive Officer Maurice McCarthy said the objective of today’s morning tea was to raise awareness.
McCarthy said the next step is to meet formally with the Minister to see what Digicel can do next.
He added that Fiji has to create this awareness and to drive this message home not just in October but all year round.
