In the past 44 years, our beloved Fiji has witnessed a rapid growth of the economy.

Those were the words of the Assistant Minister for Agriculture Joeli Cawaki while addressing the people in the Western Division during their special Fiji Day celebration at Churchill Park today.

Cawaki said that despite the big challenges faced by the nation, Fiji has always managed to move forward and people can proudly say that we have made it.

The Assistant Minister for Agriculture added that this year’s Fiji Day celebration is important as Fiji has managed to conduct democratic elections after 8 years.

A call has been made by the government to all citizens of the country to celebrate Fiji Day this year with their friends and families.

The government is encouraging every Fijian to reflect on the importance of this day.

This also includes Fijians living overseas.

With celebrations planned for major divisions across the country, the main celebrations in Suva will feature a Fiji Day Parade and the 21 gun salute which will be reviewed by the President Ratu Epeli Nailatikau tomorrow.
