We have lost one of the icons and a legend in Fiji’s music industry but Daniel Rae Costello’s music will always live on.
Those are the words of Fiji’s Vude Queen, Laisa Vulakoro as she pays tribute to Costello who passed away after a long illness.
Vulakoro says she was in the same talent quest in the 1970s with Costello at the Phoenix Theatre and Suva Civic Centre.
She also says Costello took music in Fiji to another level.
Vulakoro also loved to perform live on stage, and people used to go crazy when Costello performed in Fiji, Tonga and Papua New Guinea.
Top musician, Inoke Kalounisiga better known as Knox says Costello introduced his music to the world when he recorded Knox’s break out single “Jah Love Jah Crucify” in 2007.
Knox says Costello’s music and legacy will definitely live on through the rest of us.
Close family members and friends say Costello passed away after a long illness.
Further details will be released later.
Costello has released many hit songs like Samba, Dark Moon and Take Me To The Island that were popular here and around the Pacific.
