Minister for Youth and Sports Laisenia Tuitubou

What makes deaths from Non-communicable Diseases more tragic is how easily they can be prevented from exercising and eating better.

These were the comments of the Minister for Youth, Laisenia Tuitubou, when handing over $5000 worth of gym equipments to Tailevu North College.

Tuitubou says in Fiji we have an unacceptably high rate of non‑communicable diseases such as diabetes and obesity.

He encouraged the students to adhere to safe practices while using the gym equipment.

Tuitubou say using weights is a highly technical activity and it requires people to be trained in the theory and the practice.

He encouraged the students to invite the community members to work out and participate in either athletic competition or simply to maintain fitness.
