Goundar Shipping Limited had documents that were of International Safety Management standard which was higher than the Safe Ships Management System Regulation required by the Maritime Safety Authority of Fiji.
Owner of Goundar Shipping, George Goundar mentioned this in an interview with Fijivillage and he says these are just documents.
Goundar says his vessels were surveyed last month by MSAF and were given certificates and it was really disappointing for him when he was away in Japan and he was notified that his vessels had all been detained by MSAF for not submitting the documents which he says had nothing to do with the safety of his vessels.
Four vessels, the Lomaiviti Princess 3,5,6 and 7 have been released by MSAF and have started operating to the maritime islands.
Lomaiviti Princess 9 is expected to arrive in the country from Japan tomorrow.
We are currently trying to speak to MSAF.
