We do not want to be like previous governments where you build a bridge and 10 years later you will have to rebuild it.
This was highlighted by the Minister for Economy Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum during the National Budget Roadshow in Labasa yesterday when questioned by a resident on when work on the new Labasa bypass road will commence.
Sayed-Khaiyum says that they will have to have patience as investigations and design works for the new Labasa bypass road and bridge will be underway adding that $2 million has been allocated in this budget for this
Sayed-Khaiyum says they will have to have the right constructors and right engineering work for this.
He says that Labasa also has a railway bridge and buildings on the side where they will probably buy some land to build the road.
Sayed-Khaiyum says if they do not do this then people will complain the road is too narrow.
