A Fijian national studying in Cuba says they are safe after Hurricane Irma hit the Carribean Islands over the weekend.
Romeo Naiorosui who is a final year medical student spoke on behalf of 30 students there and said they are safe.
He says they have managed to talk to their families and friends via social media and mobile phone.
Naiorosui says they hope to be in more contact as things normalize.
We have also sent questions to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs if they have been in contact with other Fijian nationals from the Carribean Islands and Florida as Hurricane Irma caused major damage in these areas.
