We are building and empowering a Grand Coalition to support climate action because this crisis is too big for nation states alone to solve.
These were the remarks Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama at a working breakfast this morning hosted by the UN Office of the Least Developed Countries, Landlocked Developing Countries and Small Island Developing States (UN‑OHRLLS) and the United Nations Department of Economic and Social Affairs (UNDESA).
Bainimarama says there needs to be leadership at every level of government, in civil society and in the private sector.
He says there also needs to be commitment from ordinary citizens from all corners of the world because every human being does several things every day that can contribute to the crisis of climate change.
The Prime Minister says the oceans affect us all, those who live by the sea, oceans provide livelihoods, but they are increasingly under threat because of climate change.
Bainimarama says they are looking for partners to support this initiative as part a Coalition on Oceans and Climate Change.
