Normal water supply has been restored in Suva from yesterday evening.
Water Authority of Fiji CEO Opetaia Ravai said all repairs have been completed and water is now back to normal in the city.
Ravai said that they have never faced a water crisis anywhere in the country that involved so many people and with no prior warning.
He said that they organized every resource available to Water Authority in less than 24 hours to begin the mammoth job of supplying water to the 112,000 customers twice daily.
Meanwhile, the collapse of the main wastewater trunk line that carries all untreated waste from Suva area to the Kinoya wastewater treatment plant is now being addressed.
Ravai said that the trunk line spanned 32 meters and runs adjacent to the four miles bridge.
The authority will replace the lost section with a pipe that will be placed on the walkway of the bridge and will connect the presently open-ended trunk lines, finishing the spill.
He added that this is a temporary solution until they can build a permanent structure to carry the weight of the trunk line.
Ravai is reminding those who may be in the vicinity of Cunningham creek and the Laucala Bay area to refrain from swimming, fishing and other recreational activities until further notice.
