Water Authority of Fiji has confirmed that they have started the process of water supply from Vaturu dam to Nagado water treatment plant.
The repair works to the leaking Vanessa Valve at the Nagado Treatment Plant was completed at 4am this morning.
The only area that currently has water supply is the Lautoka City, Central Business Area.
Board Director Kamal Gounder says it will take around two to three days for the reservoirs to be refilled to fully restore the system.
Schools have already received water in their back up tanks.
Fiji Hotel and Tourism Association CEO Fantasha Lockington says that most Hotels in Nadi and Lautoka had placed extra capacity for water for the planned water shutdown.
Lockington says the Water Authority of Fiji has been very efficient with providing water supply.
She adds that they are happy to have a had a prior notice for the planned shutdown to well prepare themselves.
