Close to 150 people in Links Lane 25 in Ba will now have clean and consistent supply of drinking water after the completed waterworks in their area was officially opened.
A spokesperson for the Water Project Dhirendra Singh says they were receiving dirty and inconsistent supply of water for the last 10 years.
He says their joy cannot be explained.
He adds water supply in the area worsened after Tropical Cyclone Winston and Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama on his visit to the area had promised to fix the problem.
The project was worth $ 60,000.
While commissioning the water project, Minister for Local Government and Infrastructure, Parveen Bala says $60,000 is not too much money when it comes to the comfort and the health of the people of a certain area.
Bala says he has known the area since his childhood and the only request the residents always had was to have proper water supply.
He says he asked his team if the project could be done and their answer was yes.
