The Water Authority of Fiji is now pumping water from a river to Navau creek and then directly to the main source to compensate the low water level at reservoirs in Vunika, Waiqele and Bulileka in Vanua Levu.
Commissioner Northen, Alipate Bolalevu said the water level at reservoirs in Labasa have reached below average levels.
He added that people living in the Labasa town area are still receiving water through taps in their homes.
However, he said they are carting water to villages, twelve schools, six health centers and a few settlements in the Macuata, Cakaudrove and Bua provinces.
Bolalevu said one hundred and ninety thousand litres of water has been carted to the most affected areas in the Northern division and maritime islands including Yanuca and Yacata in the past few weeks as the dry season continues.
According to the Commissioner Northern, the value of the water carted to areas in the Northern division is $155,000.
Bolalevu is also calling on people to refrain from washing their car and watering the gardens as people need more water for drinking and cooking.
Meanwhile, the dry weather is also taking its toll on the livestock in the Western division.
Acting Commissioner Western, Luke Moroivalu said he has requested Agriculture Ministry to conduct an assessment on the livestock.
He added that they are still carting water to the affected areas in the Western division.
