The Water Authority confirms that they have 3 teams of 12 crew members that are rotated in 3 shifts, working 24 hours since last Sunday to complete the repair of the leakage to the water pipe along Ratu Mara Road in Nabua.
The Authority has also confirmed that the repair of the leakage to the main wastewater pipe has been completed however they have identified another leakage upstream which is approximately five metres from the repaired leakage downstream.
When asked about the huge traffic, the Authority says that it is working closely with Fiji Roads Authority in terms of road traffic management during the repair works period and are also in discussion with the Fiji Roads for the construction of an additional road lane.
The Authority adds the deep and wide excavation works are necessary for repairs to be carried out since the pipeline that needs repairs was laid in the early 1980s and road upgrade works over the years have covered the water main to a considerable depth.
The Water Authority has also confirmed that the works are projected to continue until Monday.
