Acting Prime Minister and Attorney General Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum says they want every Fijian to have access to internet, irrespective of how rich or poor they are.
Sayed-Khaiyum today launched the Walesi free Wifi hotspot at Koroivolu Park in Nadi.
This will allow thousands of students and the general public near the Nadi bus stand and market area to access free internet for one hour in a day.
He says within two weeks, the whole Nadi market will have access to the Wifi.
Sayed-Khaiyum says they are doing this not only to allow people to have access to internet for their leisure, but the idea is also for people to access a lot of information about government services and many services will be made available on the internet.
He says the government has allocated about $40 million in this years National Budget to ensure they get more connectivity throughout Fiji.
