Villagers in Wailotua, Tailevu will no longer have to fetch water from nearby creeks for their daily use, following the commissioning of the Wailotua Water Project by Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama.
The $91,000 project was funded by the Government through the Small Grant Scheme.
Bainimarama says the Small Grant Scheme was designed to fill the needs of ordinary Fijians.
Bainimarama told the villagers that while the funding source may be called the “Small Grant Scheme”, none of the beneficiaries of these projects should feel that the impact on their lives is in any way small.
The Prime Minister also says that while the projects vary greatly in the size and the issues they address, they all serve a common purpose and that is to give Fijians the necessary resources to be the very best versions of themselves.
