She is the class prefect who does not need to yell at students to get their attention as she leads by example.
The Waicoba District School student of Sigatoka, Adi Ema Tuidriva was awarded the 2014 Children’s Award organized by Vision Fiji today.
Tuidriva who stays at a private home in the school compound said she spends most evenings in the hostel helping other students who have no parents to supervise their work.
When questioned by Fijivillage what motivated her to help these students, 13-year-old Tuidriva said she believes that if she helps other people they will in turn help her when she is in need.
Her teacher, Katie Talbot who nominated Tuidriva for the award, said at times Tuidriva also looks after the school canteen.
The 13-year-old also makes it her goal to gather younger children from the school compound and surrounding villages and accompany them to the Kids Club which is 1.5 kilometers from the school.
