Water Authority of Fiji has outsourced the construction of rural water projects of Serea, Naluwai and Vanuakula villages in Naitasiri worth $747, 550.
The Authority signed a contract with Taviraki Building and Civil Works to carry out the projects.
Water Authority of Fiji CEO Opetaia Ravai says this contract will not only see that each village supplies labour to assist in the water project construction but there will also be a financial reward for their efforts as the payments will be made into their respective Village Water Committee bank accounts.
Ravi says this will ensure longevity and sustainability of their village water supply systems by providing the Water Committees with the funds for ongoing maintenance and repairs.
He says the Serea Village project will cost $426,020 , the Vanuakula Village project $178, 978 and the Nauluwai Village project will cost $142,553.
The Authority has confirmed 35 other possible rural projects being outsourced this year.
This is the first time Water Authority of Fiji has outsourced rural water projects.
We will speak to the Authority about the capability of the company to handle these projects and the monitoring of the works.
