Sourcing water from a nearby creek is now a thing of the past for 60 villagers of Vunavesi village in Sigatoka after the Water Authority of Fiji installed 10 sets of standpipes and showers at a cost of $88,000.
Village elder Ilaitia Tamata said they are grateful to the Water Authority of Fiji for providing piped water which has brought great relief to the people especially the women.
Tamata said it has been hard for the women who had to carry clothes down to the creek and back.
