Fiji National University Engineering degree students now have a fair chance to secure jobs following the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding between FNU and the Water Authority of Fiji.

This MOU will allow engineering degree students of FNU to be sent to the Water Authority for a 6 month attachment course.

Authority CEO Opetaia Ravai says that estimations have shown that Fiji needs around 2000 engineers.

Ravai adds that they have had this partnership with FNU for a while now however they are just formalising it.

He says that they accept 10 engineering degree students every year but this number will depend on the amount of students given by the Fiji National University.

Meanwhile, Vice-Chancellor of FNU Professor Nigel Healey says this will provide an opportunity for the students to gain work experience before going into the work force.

He adds that FNU is focused on degree and diplomas that lead directly jobs.
