The Ministry for Women, Children and Poverty Alleviation will be having a discussion with their management to ensure that enough vehicles are provided to the different divisions.
Minister, Mereseini Vuniwaqa assured the divisional office staff that she will try to solve the transportation problems in all the divisions as soon as possible.
This comes after concerns were raised especially by staff at the Ministry office in the North that they do not have enough vehicles to provide services.
Women’s Interest Officer North Maira Vafo’ou says their vehicle has broken down and they find it difficult to visit the project sites.
She says it takes them two days to initiate one project since they have to depend on public transport for travelling.
Vafo’ou also raised concern that due to their driver’s prolonged sick leave, there is no one to drive.
She also told the Ministry that the driver will be retiring soon.
Vuniwaqa assured her staff that she will look into the pending job applications and other issues so that challenges faced by other divisions are also addressed for efficient service delivery.
Meanwhile Permanent Secretary Josefa Koroivueta says the Ministry will bring in a new mobile bus before the end of this year and some vehicles which are currently undergoing servicing will be ready soon.
