The Minister for Women, Children and Poverty Alleviation, Mereseini Vuniwaqa has stressed on the government’s commitment to providing better services to all communities irrespective of their religion, background or geographical location.

Vuniwaqa highlighted this while on her official tour to the Yasawa’s and was accompanied by Vinaka Fiji which is an NGO that works with the office of Commissioner Western.

On the short visit Vuniwaqa was also able to meet with children, women’s groups, persons with disabilities, senior citizens and the community members from Yasawa.

Vuniwaqa says that her visit was really enriching because she was able to meet with women groups to discuss their needs in terms of establishing  economic empowerment programs and at the same time provide an opportunity for women to learn about government’s plans and programs for women’s development and how they can access it.

Speaking on behalf of the people of Yaqeta Village Headmen, Moape Seuseu acknowledged the Minister for Women for visiting their  communities and women's groups on the remote islands of Yasawa.
