A sponsorship of $35,000 was given today by Vodafone Fiji for the Lost Island Marathon Race.
Ultramarathon runners from around the world will be participating in the seven-day event
The race will start from Yaqara, Rakiraki and ends in Tavuni Hill Fort near Sigatoka.
Head of Vodafone E‑Commerce and Corporate Affairs Shailendra Prasad says this is the first cross-country marathon to be done in Fiji.
Also present at the event was the Minister for Trade and Tourism Faiyaz Koya who announced that he will be participating in the last leg of the Lost Island Marathon Race
He says this will help promote tourism in Fiji and areas outside the tourism hotspots will also be recognized.
The event will be boosted with participants from the UK, Germany, Sweden, France, Singapore, Australia and New Zealand.
Two Fijians will be taking part in the Ironman event.
They are Petero Manoa and Anna Cowley.
The Lost Island Marathon Race will start from the 2nd till the 8th of next month.
