Villagers of Vuaki prepare for the late Archbishop’s reguregu

The villagers of Vuaki near Yaqeta, in Yasawa where the late Archbishop Petero Mataca is originally from are preparing for the reguregu.

Village headman, Etuate Ratudradra said the women are busy weaving new mats and the men have gone out to fish which they will bring with them to Suva.

Ratudradra said the villagers of Vuaki will join the delegation from the Western Division who will meet in Lautoka on Wednesday before they leave for Suva.

Ratudradra said they will miss the great leader as he always taught them to love and respect one another and other races.

He said the last time they saw the late Archbishop was in 2010 when visited his village.

Archbishop Mataca passed away at the Suva Private Hospital last Monday at the age of 81.

He was born in Cawaci, Ovalau on 28th April 1933.

The reguregu begins at 2pm on Tuesday at the Lami Parish.

He will be laid to rest on Friday.
