Fiji‑ born Hawaii based musician, George ‘Fiji’ Veikoso, performed a live concert in New Zealand yesterday with proceeds going to the victims of Cyclone Winston in Fiji.
Veikoso performed many of his hits like Sosefina, Hey Girl and Sweet Darling in Wellington.
The event comes after a community association and church group approached Danny ‘Brotha D’ Leaosavaii of Dawn Raid Entertainment.
Leaosavaii organised a similar relief show after the 2009 tsunami in Samoa which raised over US$270,000.
He says Fiji R’n’B songstress Aaradhna, Wellington group Tomorrow People and other musicians were performing without appearance fees.
He says they are giving their time for this great cause.
He adds our Pacific cousins need a hand and that is what they are there for.
