The second state witness in the rape trial of the 75-year-old pastor of Back to Eden Church Iowane Vakadranu told the High Court today that she was taught by Vakadranu that the education system is beginning to get corrupted.
The 23-year-old woman made the revelation during the cross-examination.
When questioned by defense lawyer Semi Tinivata on the teachings from Back to Eden Church, the alleged victim said that Vakadranu taught them that the education system is getting away from the moral principles of God and the bible.
Tinivata then asked the woman if this is the reason why she left school.
She replied by saying yes.
The woman also highlighted during the cross-examination that they were taught that people were not treated properly at hospitals and this is the reason they were taken to Vakadranu.
Tinivata then put to the woman that she consented to having sex with Vakadranu as she undressed herself, walked to the bed and did not yell.
Tinivata then put to the woman that Vakadranu did not have sex with her.
The alleged victim told Tinivata that he would not know as she knows what was inserted in her.
The prosecution wrapped up its case today.
Defence lawyer, Semi Tinivata then made a submission of no case to answer saying the prosecution has failed miserably to prove the case beyond reasonable doubt but he agreed that there is some evidence touching the elements of the case.
High Court judge Justice Vincent Perera ruled the case will go ahead.
Vakadranu is currently taking the stand.
