The Water Authority of Fiji is urging all citizens to use water wisely in light of the prevailing weather patterns that are currently being experienced in the country.
CEO of the Water Authority of Fiji, Opetaia Ravai said that they have provisions in their promulgation for water conservation if there is a similar situation to the 1998 drought.
Ravai said they have already started carting water to certain areas around the country.
Meanwhile, the Commissioner Western, Luke Mureivalu has confirmed to Fijivillage that they have started on their second round of water carting in the western division.
The Water Authority of Fiji also said the major parts of Suva, Nadi and Lautoka will not have any water cuts as their water sources have not reached critical levels.
However the Water Authority of Fiji is still urging people to be prepared.
The Fiji Electricity Authority is also asking the public to use electricity sensibly as the Monasavu Dam water level is at 728.
47m which is the lowest level reached for any August since 2008.
People living in the Western, Northern and parts of the Central division are now being told to prepare themselves as we may be heading into a drought in the next few months.
