Minister for Employment, Productivity and Industrial Relations Jone Usamate has met with the Director General of the International Labour Organization Guy Ryder.
The meeting was an opportunity for Usamate to brief Ryder on future employment programmes to be undertaken collaboratively between the Employment Ministry and the ILO.
Usamate says discussions also included the implementation carried out so far on the Joint Implementation Report that was signed by the tripartite partners in January this year.
He says future programmes of action discussed by the parties includes the current development of Fiji’s first ever National Employment Policy, future regional meetings on Decent Work involving Pacific States, pursuing work on a Decent Work Country Programme, and pursuing the recognition of Pacific States as a unique group within the Asia‑Pacific Group.
