50% of children who suffer from Leukemia cancer cases in Fiji are surviving.
This was revealed by Minister for Health Jone Usamate during the launch of the Childhood Cancer Awareness Programme today.
Usamate said with the development of advance technology, diagnosis and treatment on childhood cancer, 80% to 90% of common cancer such as brain tumor and leukemia are cured.
He said they expect to receive 45 new cases of cancer every year.
Usamate added that it is a concern that only half of these cases are reported at their health facility.
7 children died from cancer this year.
