The University of Fiji Suva campus is a fully fledged campus now offering courses in medical science.
Speaking at a press conference in Saweni, Lautoka, Vice Chancellor Prem Misir said the Umanand Prasad School of Medicine will have its second school at the Suva Campus and they will start the MBBS course from semester one next year.
Misir says this will assist the University further to achieve its knowledge based development framework which is highlighted in the new strategic plan 2017-2022.
He says the medical school has a collaboration with Monash University in Australia.
They are looking at starting the program with around 35 local students.
