A USP student has asked Minister for Economy Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum if the Tertiary Education Loans Board could provide students under the Tertiary Education Loans Scheme updates of the money they are getting every semester.
She raised this issue at the 2018-2019 Budget Consultations at USP Laucala Campus today.
Responding to the student, Sayed-Khaiyum said the government has given the Tertiary Education Loans Board $2 million to invest in an IT system that will allow them to give financial statements to students every six months.
He says students will then have a running checklist of the money that has been given to them by TELS.
Also present at the Budget Consultation was CEO for the Tertiary Education Loans Board Bobby Maharaj who said they are progressing in the development of their IT System.
