The University of the South Pacific spent a total of $1.5M during their 50th Anniversary Commemoration.
The USP Vice Chancellor Professor Pal Ahluwalia says that there was an expectation that a lot of the funding would come from the Alumni and through sponsorship but this did not happen.
Professor Ahluwalia also highlighted that he did not agree with the celebrations as he believes that not all USP campuses are not 50 year’s old.
Ahluwalia highlighted that the University still went out to celebrate its main campus turning 50 years old adding that an initial budget of $1.9m was allocated however only $1.5m was spent during the year long celebrations.
