The University of the South Pacific has received NZ $5.6 million from the New Zealand government for their USPNet upgrade.
USP Vice-Chancellor Professor Rajesh Chandra says it is an excellent contribution to mark USP’s 50th Anniversary.
Professor Chandra says that New Zealand has been steadfast in supporting USP, in helping govern it through the membership of the council and the University Grants Committee and their relationship has been extremely constructive and progressive.
A major event has been planned by the university as part of their anniversary celebrations in honour of the contribution by the Fiji and New Zealand government via the joint unveiling of a commemorative monument at the Laucala Campus next Friday by Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama and New Zealand’s minister for defence Ron Mark.
There are currently 30,000 students in USP with over 4000 graduates every year.
