The University of the South Pacific in coordination with the Australian Pacific Training Coalition will host the Pacific Skills Summit at the USP Japan ICT Lecture Theater today and tomorrow.
While speaking during a press conference at USP, President of the Republic of Nauru, Baron Divavesi Waqa stated that more than 30 speakers from private sectors, civil society, regional organizations and development partners in the Pacific will be speaking during this summit.
President Waqa says more than 300 people from the region are expected to be part of this summit.
He says the summit will establish a regional platform for strengthening collaboration, encouraging investments and achieving a better match between labour markets demand and skills development.
President Waqa hopes the summit will push forward this critical Pacific led agenda to ensure the link between skills development and sustainable development receives the priority it needs and deserves for the benefit of the people of the region.
