The US Embassy has today stated that at this point, they are not aware of any specific public‑health threat to the community after the death of two US citizens in Nadi.

The embassy says for more than a week, they have been closely working with the Fijian government, police, and health officials in their investigation into the tragic deaths of the two US citizens while on holiday in Fiji.

The embassy says it has facilitated contact between the US Centres for Disease Control and Fiji’s Ministry of Health to ascertain the causes of death and to assist in any related measures.

They say they appreciate the efforts made thus far by the Fijian authorities and stand ready to provide further assistance, if requested.

Police are also working with the Health Ministry on the investigation into the death of the US couple in Denarau.
