The Fijian Government welcomed the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights Zeid Ra’ad Al Hussein with a traditional ceremony at the Grand Pacific Hotel last night.
The Attorney General and Minister for Economy Aiyaz Sayed‑Khaiyum was present at the ceremony.
Al Hussein, who arrived into the country yesterday is on a three-day visit to Fiji.
Thanking the government for the welcome, the High Commissioner remarked if only more of the world was in the footsteps of the traditions, the culture and traditions of the people of Fiji and the wider Polynesian people.
He said he was happy to receive and be received with the generosity of the ceremonies representing the kindness and traditions of the people of Fiji towards those who are their guests.
