“The volunteers assisted us a lot especially with students who have poor literacy skills.”

These were the comments of Burebasaga School Assistant Head Teacher Alison Turaganiqali about the eight volunteers from Leads Metropolitan University that were visiting schools in Rewa.

Turaganiqali said the volunteers were of great help to the students with poor literacy especially on English and Math skills.

Turaganiqali also said that the team helped in developing the schools Physical Education, Music and Art and Craft classes where students showed their talent.

The 37 volunteers of the Think Pacific International Volunteering programme raised over $66,000 to help carry out their six week project in the country.

The volunteers who have returned to the UK assisted Kindergarten and Primary Schools of Burebasaga, Rewa, Ratu Sauvoli and Dreketi including Noco and Rewa Secondary School.

Meanwhile, the British High Commissioner Roderick Drummond when visiting the schools said he was impressed at how much the students had achieved in only six weeks.

Drummond said the Mission is also having discussions with Think Pacific on how they can extend the programme to other British Universities in the United Kingdom.
