The UK Armed Forces Charities today gave $200,000 to 10 families of Fijian soldiers serving in the British Army that were affected by Tropical Cyclone Winston.
Chairman of the Royal British Legion Fiji Ratu Meli Vesikula says these 10 families are from Koro, Ovalau, Ra and Cakaudrove.
Vesikula says the money will be distributed according to the amount of damage done to the houses as cheques will be given to the various hardware stores.
While presenting the cheque, British High Commissioner Melanie Hopkins says this is a great initiative in helping those who were affected by TC Winston.
Meanwhile a recipient from Nukutovia in Ovalau, Epineri Tokalau says the this will help him rebuild his house which was totally destroyed during TC Winston.
Tokalau has also acknowledged the UK Armed Forces Charities for the initiative.
