Two fire incidents have left six families homeless.
Three flats were destroyed in a fire at a housing block in Derricks Street in Raiwaqa yesterday.
National Fire Authority CEO John O’Connor said the fire fighters managed to save other flats in the double story housing block.
O’Connor said while firefighters were fighting to put out the flames in Raiwaqa they received another call that a property was on fire in Wailoku.
He said the fire teams left the fire scene in Raiwaqa and responded to the fire call in Wailoku and upon arrival they saw a two bedroom house was fully engulfed in flames.
He added the fire teams used deliveries of water from their fire trucks and also used portable pumps to draw water from the river to put out the fire.
