Two police officers and a businessman appeared in the Suva Magistrates Court after they were charged with bribery related offences by FICAC.
Police Corporal Samuela Dakuitoga is charged with two counts of bribery, ASP Ifereimi Savou is charged with one count of abuse of office while businessman, Bharat Jogia has been charged with one count of bribery.
It is alleged that Dakuitoga accepted $383 from Bharat Jogia between the 4th to the 5th of September last year.
He also allegedly solicited $300 from a Prakash Chand Kayal, and later accepted the amount in cash on account of performing an act in December last year.
According to the charges, ASP Savou allegedly approved private funds from Jogia to conduct a police investigation which is an act prejudicial to the rights of the Fiji Police Force.
Bharat Jogia allegedly offered an advantage in the form of a return air ticket from Suva to Labasa and accommodation at a hotel in Labasa in the sum of $383 to Corporal Dakuitoga of Totogo Police Station on account of expediting an investigation in his capacity as a corporal of the force.
The three have been released on strict bail conditions.
The case is adjourned to the 18th of this month.
