Two men have been sentenced for robbing the Total Service Station in Laucala Beach Estate on the 7th of January last year.
High Court Judge Justice Salesi Temo sentenced 28-year-old Kaminieli Turagaloaloa to 14 years imprisonment while 20-year-old Sela Rayawa was sentenced to 7 years imprisonment.
The two men with others took asssorted cigarettes and recharge cards worth more than 3 thousand dollars during the robbery and later fled in a taxi.
While delivering the sentence, Justice Temo said the two men and others were armed with knifes and pinch bars.
He said the two men with others threatened the customers adding that these violent, cowardly and threatening acts will not be tolerated by the court.
Justice Temo went on to say that the two men should not complain when they are given a custodial sentence because their behavior showed outright they had no regard for the law.
Justice Temo also said that Kaminieli Turagaloaloa was a habitual offender that robs and steals to make a living.
He said that Turagaloaloa was a threat to the community.
Turagaloaloa has been given a non‑parole period of 14 years while Rayawa has not been given a non parole period.
