A family is now homeless after a two bedroom house was destroyed in a fire in Drasa, Lautoka last night.
National Fire Authority CEO, John O’Connor said no one was at home when the incident occurred.
He said fire trucks rushed to the scene after they received a call at 8.40pm.
Investigation has started to establish the cause of fire.
In another incident, a 44-year-old man lost his house in a fire at Tabucola cane access road in Labasa early yesterday morning.
The man was awoken by his 12 year old niece who was sleeping in another bedroom when she felt the heat from the fire.
Upon checking the sitting room, the 44-year-old saw flames coming out from one of the power points and he managed to quickly take his wife, three month old baby and niece safely outside.
The estimated cost of damage is $60,000 as investigations continue.
