Accident Compensation Commission today paid $75,000 each to two families who lost their loved ones in road accidents.

Ameo Matavutuka who lost his 10-year-old son in an accident in April in Namosi says he will use the money to build a house in remembrance of his son, the late Taniela Tuinivono.

He says his son was hit by a bus when he was crossing the road.

George Mawi, who lost his wife in an accident near Galoa in February says he will use this money to fund his children’s education.

Mawi’s wife, the late Patricia Mawi was a passenger in a vehicle that was involved in an accident.

While handing the cheque to the two families, Acting Prime Minister and Attorney General, Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum says they want more Fijians to be aware that there is a compensation scheme in place.

Sayed-Khaiyum says that some families have lost their sole bread winner.
