Two raids conducted by Eastern Division Police operations last night resulted in the arrest of four people after information was received about their involvement in drug-related activities.
A raid conducted at the home of a 33-year-old self‑employed man in Nakasi resulted in the seizure of white crystals believed to be methamphetamine and apparatus allegedly used for manufacturing the drugs.
A 28-year-old man and a 29-year-old woman were also arrested and continue to be questioned while the substances have been sent for analysis.
In the second raid conducted at a billiard shop in Nausori, the Eastern Operations team found a white plastic containing sachets of dried leaves hidden under a drain pipe.
When officers removed the drain pipe cover they found the plastic containing the sachets. The leaves have been sent for analysis.
Chief Operations Officer ACP Rusiate Tudravu says officers are aware of the increased activities of drug peddlers as they look to make money over the busy festive season.
ACP Tudravu said the officers continue to gather information from members of the public and have taken note of those actively involved in the illegal trade.
He says anyone with information should call the Command Centres which are operating on a 24 hour period so they are able to get the drugs and those involved off our streets.
