The oath should remind you of your duties to act at all times as a legal practitioner according to the best of your knowledge and ability.
Those were the comments made by Chief Justice Anthony Gates to the twelve newly admitted Legal Practitioners who graduated from the University of Fiji.
Justice Gates said this is an element of competition between the two Universities in Fiji which offer law courses.
He said this should not be exaggerated but a little competition is not a bad thing.
Chief Justice Gates said how the lawyers conduct themselves when they commence their professional career whether in private practice, as a solicitor or barrister, or in commercial life in a corporation or in government service, will reflect upon the university.
He told the lawyers not to let them down. He also says respect is of great importance and without it, persons refuse to do what they ought rightly to do.
Present today were family members, friends and members of the legal fraternity.
