The top male athlete from the Triple N Zone Peni Turua of Lomaivuna High School will run in the Senior Boys 1500 metres finals later today at the ANZ Stadium.
Turua is one of the favourites after winning gold in the Senior boys 800 metres, 1500 metres and 4x400 metres at the Triple N Zone.
Another athlete to look out for is Lautoka Zone champion Isikeli Waseaqali of Natabua High School.
Waseqali won the Intermediate Boys 1500 metres last year.
Farasiko Mualivu of Natabua High School will also be running in the Senior Boys 1500 metres.
Mualivu is a former champion in this event.
And in the girls 1,500 metres event, the favourites are Maia Ramsden of International School Suva and Kinisimere Bote of Magodro Junior Secondary School.
13 gold medals will be up for grabs at the Coca-Cola Games today.
Gold medals will be up for grabs in the Junior Girls High Jump, Senior Boys Shot Put, Senior Girls Long Jump, Intermediate Boys Discus, Junior Girls Javelin, Intermediate Girls Triple Jump, Sub Junior Boys Javelin, Junior Girls Discus, Girls 1,500 metres, Sub Junior Boys 1,500 metres, Junior Boys 1,500 metres, Intermediate Boys 1,500 metres and Senior Boys 1,500 metres.
The 100 metres heats will start at 2.15pm today.
More than 2,400 athletes from 143 schools around the country will be participating in the 2017 Coca-Cola Games.
The defending champions are Marist Brothers High School and Jasper Williams High School
